Charmed meets The Pumpkin Spice Café – an unmissable cosy witchy romance from the bestselling author of Wild Scottish Knight
She’s hexed. He’s vexed. And for Scotland’s most magical small-town, their feud might just spell disaster.
Sloane MacGregor swore she’d never return to Briarhaven, but with her twenty-fifth birthday looming – the day witches come into their magic – her grandmother summons her and her sisters back for one tiny task: break the centuries-old curse haunting their bloodline.
Knox Douglas, Briarhaven’s grumpy mayor, has worked tirelessly to make his town a haven for magical folk. The last thing he needs is a cursed MacGregor wreaking havoc. It doesn’t matter he once crushed on her. For the sake of Briarhaven, Sloane has to go.
But magic has other plans – and in Briarhaven, love really is a witch.Hexed witch x the grumpy mayor who's trying to kick her out of his cozy Scottish small town
I loved the magical small town and all the townspeople. It had such an interesting vibe - this town of witchy and magical people basically hiding in plain sight under a witchy themed tourism plan.
The character's themselves, Knox and Sloane were cute together. I liked how they hated each other at first but slowly their walls came down. It did get a bit repetitive with the "I like you" but "I have to leave so I'm not going to like you" back and forth thing Sloane was doing. But I did enjoy Sloane's character ARC towards the end.
It had some spice to it and it was well written. Nothing too insane but just enough to get a glimpse into another side of them both.
The story of the curse itself and how it came to be was what really drove me to finish this book. At times, it did feel repetitive with the back and forth the characters were doing. Blue, her familiar, was a favorite of mine. I could imagine how cute and funny this little guy was and I loved that she could communicate with him.
I will most likely pick up the next book in the series, mostly for the cozy witchy town vibes and to find out more about what was going on at the end.
A perfect book for fall! If you are looking for a cozy, witchy, rom-com for the season - give this one a shot!
