Genre:

Mystery, Thriller, Suspense Fiction

My Rating:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars

Summary

The next electrifying novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author duo behind The Wife Between Us.

Wealthy Washington suburbanites Marissa and Matthew Bishop seem to have it all—until Marissa is unfaithful. Beneath their veneer of perfection is a relationship riven by work and a lack of intimacy. She wants to repair things for the sake of their eight-year-old son and because she loves her husband. Enter Avery Chambers.

Avery is a therapist who lost her professional license. Still, it doesn’t stop her from counseling those in crisis, though they have to adhere to her unorthodox methods. And the Bishops are desperate.

When they glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

My Thoughts

This was my first book I have read by these authors after hearing great things about both of them. I loved how the perspectives changed between Avery and Marissa. I thought that the writing was done well and it almost reminded me of like a drama/mystery show that had a twist at the end of each episode whereas this was a surprise at the end of each chapter. It was definitely a quick read and kept me surprised and trying to guess the ending the entire time. Some parts I did guess while other parts actually shocked me. Overall, I would definitely recommend it to someone who loves a mystery filled with drama. I almost want to see more from Avery and her other clients. I look forward to checking out the authors’ other books!
