When siblings Ava and Luke discover a mysterious notebook in their dad’s attic they are instantly intrigued. And, as they read through letters, diary entries, newspaper cuttings and notarised secret recordings, they realise that a decades-old, still unsolved, murder case is unfolding right in front of them . . .

Determined to discover what really happened, Ava and Luke turn detective to try and crack the case. But soon they realise that the killer might still be out there - and might be closer than they think...

YOU know the facts. YOU have all the clues. Can YOU solve the mystery before they do?

Hallett is incapable of writing anything less than 5-stars (and I’ve read her entire catalog) if anything I would give them all 100 stars

I am just so obsessed with this format of writing where you read it all in diaries, logs, texts and recordings. It really makes you feel like you are in the detective seat.

I loved how the main mystery of this one happened in the 80s but these two siblings still got so wrapped up in the case and connected with people from it.

Even though it is a middle grade read - I think every mystery lover would enjoy it! It’s truly one of those stories that sucks you in and you stay up wayyyy too late reading.

I’m so pumped that there’s going to be another one set at a museum!

I HIGHLY recommend all of Janice Hallett’s books because I’m that obsessed with them!
